Take a Seat: 36 Choate Street

 

This was actually one of my favorite pages from the original print version of Glory Days, as it so well (visually) represents the shared, generation spanning college experience at UD. Take a look at the two pics below, and then we’ll talk about them…

In the top pic are my friends Maria and Bill in the 36 Choate Street living room, May of 1995 – on or very close to graduation weekend. We all knew each other from our freshman year.

 

Bottom pic is Sarah L, UD ’07, and a dude friend of hers in the 36 Choate Street living room, September 2006.

 

Yep, same house, same room, same exact spot. 11 years apart. “The more things change…”

 

And actually, a great comment I received about these pics is an observation about the couches: the couch in the 1995 shot is from the ‘70s, and the couch from the 2006 shot is from the ‘80s. I guess 20 or so years is the magic number, when furniture is deemed hand-me-down worthy from your parents’ house to your college house!
