“Freshman year '99 - '00, GoldenEye on N64 was the game of choice. The rest of college we always seemed to end up playing Mario Kart. Freshman year we also would play Unreal on the computers in the Spencer Computer Lab. Someone had cracked the game, so it was installed on every machine down there. In the dorm (Russell C) we'd sometimes play Worms Armageddon trying to blow everyone else up.”

“In Harrington B, second floor, hours and hours of time was spent playing Mario Party -- a totally mindless game. It was a particular favorite after an evening of drinking. Spring of 1999, I can remember waking up in my friend's room still clutching the controller. Apparently, we decided to play an epic game after HOURS of drinking. The worst part was that we finished the game once we woke up...only in college.”

“I remember my neighbors in Russell E ('90 - '91) having Tecmo marathons. That game looks so crappy now, but back then it was the bomb.”
- Stephanie, UD '93
“Freshman year my addiction was Need For Speed at my friend’s Christiana Towers room. What I remember most is, the fact the game was rented from Blockbuster, and my friend would return and rent it again and again, because he loved it as much as me. What are guy friends for, but to help you skip class with the promise of simulated race car driving? I've always dreamed of owning a Porsche, so I started out choosing that car, but quickly learned it handles like crap and is all over the road. The fastest car that hugged curves like no other at 140 mph was the Toyota Supra. Go figure.”

“I am pretty sure my Blockbuster card still lists my address as 320 Thompson Hall, and has the phone number from that dorm room. I also think my roommate from that year might still share the account with me. That was 1998 - 1999.”

“I grew up in Newark, and I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the State Theatre, many times at midnight. That was fun, everyone throwing crap around the theater!”
- Laurie, UD '91
“During my time at UD, our video game of choice was Super Smash Bros. on the N64 or the GameCube. (It was later released for the Nintendo Wii too, but that was after my college years.)
One of the RAs in the Russell complex had a video projector…I think from a fortuitous dumpster dive, if memory serves. So he setup the projector in one of the Russell lounges, and we organized a Super Smash Bros. tournament. I don't remember much about the tournament itself (e.g. the number of participants), except that I was eliminated early by the guy who ended up winning the tournament! Still a fond memory though."
- Brian J, UD '06
“Bringing Nintendo 64 (complete with Bond and Mario Kart) made me the coolest girl in Gilbert 3E my sophomore year.”
- Veronica, UD '08
“My ex-boyfriend and I joined Video Showplace specifically to rent porn. We only rented one, though...we were wusses.
But what I remember most was my first year, going to an early class and then coming back to Rodney and meeting my best friend in the basement lounge to watch The Price is Right while we did laundry and ate cereal. College life ruled. The real world sucks.”
